Dear Students, Welcome to my class! My name is Elizabeth A. Hernandez and I am your 7th grade English teacher. I am so excited to be in 7th grade, and I look forward to getting to know all of you. This school year is already proving to be extraordinary and historical, but Faulk Middle School teachers are blazing the trail, navigating these choppy waters like seasoned sailors. Our virtual classrooms are taking shape, and ready for the 1st six weeks. Yes, there will be connectivity failure. Yes, there will be schedule mishaps. Yes, there will be bad- hair days. But, the one thing you will not have this year is a teacher that will give up on you. It is normal to be anxious, but whatever you are feeling- many people around you are probably feeling the same way. Even your teachers are nervous! So relax! We will work together on a series of assignments that will create a trusting, caring learning environment-perfect for success. Just do your very best! You will have a packet of papers for parent's signatures and personal information on Week 1 HyperDoc. Please make sure you upload them promptly. Also, I have provided a syllabus for you to read with your parents on Week 1 of the English 7 HyperDoc. This syllabus has the classroom rules, procedures, grading policy and school supplies for this class. I am excited to get this Voyage in writing off to a good start. There is a lot of work to get done. Virtual learning may prove to be challenging for all of us, but with a little patience, persistence and perseverance, we will be better life-long learners. Since we are preparing for the STAAR (State of Texas and Academics and Readiness)Exam, it is important that you follow each lesson and practice every skill we cover, daily. Not only is it important to do your best on this exam, it is important to learn to write effectively in order to communicate with others in every-day life and in the quest of future educational goals. We may experience some choppy seas, but I am certain that with the right attitude and commitment, this voyage will be a success for all. So, be positive and open to new ideas; let the learning process take place! Yours in education, E. Hernandez [email protected] (956) 338-3728 Homework Hotline & Parent Communication
